How much does Etsy take per sale? For a typical order, plan on roughly 11 to 13% in fees before Offsite Ads, broken across four separate charges. Understanding each one is the difference between pricing for profit and discovering at payout time that your margin evaporated.

The four Etsy fees

  • Listing fee: $0.20 per listing, charged when you publish or renew, whether it sells or not
  • Transaction fee: 6.5% of the total sale price, including shipping and gift wrap
  • Payment processing fee: 3% + $0.25 per transaction in the US (varies by country)
  • Offsite Ads fee: 12 to 15% of the sale, but only if the buyer clicked an Etsy ad, and only for shops over $10k in annual sales that cannot opt out

A worked example: a $30 sale

Sell a $30 item with $5 shipping. The transaction fee takes 6.5% of $35 ($2.28), payment processing takes 3% + $0.25 ($1.30), and the listing cost $0.20. Total fees: about $3.78, leaving roughly $31.22 before your product and shipping costs. If that sale came through Offsite Ads at 15%, subtract another $5.25. How to keep more of each sale

Price with fees baked in from the start, never add them as an afterthought. Offer free-shipping thresholds to raise average order value, since the transaction fee applies to shipping anyway. Review your Offsite Ads performance in your dashboard: if ad-attributed sales are eating margin on low-profit items, raise prices on those SKUs. And renew listings strategically, the $0.20 fee is small but it compounds across hundreds of listings.

Fee schedules change. The figures above reflect Etsy's published rates as of 2026, always confirm current fees in your Etsy Payments account before finalizing prices.
